In time for the Compamed 2019 trade fair, issue 06-2019 of the trade journal medizin&technik has been published. On two pages, the advantages of deep drawing are explained using a solenoid valve as an example.
Deep drawing is becoming increasingly important in medical technology. Standardization, miniaturization and the required process control are just as important as the growing cost pressure. With deep drawing, cost savings can be achieved, especially for large quantities. This is where deep drawing can be an attractive alternative to machining processes. The material hardening resulting from the cold forming process makes components more stable. This allows for lower wall thicknesses - keyword: lightweight design. This is another aspect how material and cost savings can be achieved with deep drawing technology.
With comprehensive know-how, STÜKEN MEDICAL supports their customers in product development and material selection. In addition to stainless steels, aluminum, brass, copper and bronze, components made of materials that are difficult to form such as titanium, molybdenum, Inconel or niobium can be deep-drawn as well. Micro parts with dimensions below 1 mm are also one of STÜKEN MEDICAL's areas of expertise.
Fields of application are, for example, functional parts in medical devices and tools as well as in products for diagnosis and treatment. Components for solenoid valves and sensors, stainless steel housings and titanium implant housings are also ideal candidates for deep drawing.
